What is the ATS Resume Checker?
An ATS resume checker tests whether applicant tracking systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or iCIMS, and the recruiters who search them, can find what they need in your resume. AnyShift gives you an ATS score out of 100. When you add a job description, 60% of the score comes from the share of its key terms your resume contains. The other 40% comes from nine format checks: contact details, a LinkedIn URL, standard headings, 350–900 words, at least 6 bullets, 5+ numbers, 6+ action verbs, no more than three uses of “I/me/my” and no tab-based columns. Without a job description, the score uses the format checks alone.
You can drop a PDF, DOCX or TXT resume. It’s parsed privately in your browser and never uploaded.
How to use the ATS Resume Checker
- Replace the sample text in Job description (optional, recommended) with the ad you’re applying to.
- Drop your resume (PDF, DOCX or TXT), which is read and checked automatically, or paste it into Resume text.
- Click Check my resume to see your ATS score and how many job-description keywords you match.
- Work through the items marked ! and the Missing keywords list, then check again.

The 9 format checks explained
| Check | Passes when | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Contact details | An email address and a phone number are found | Recruiters can’t call you back without them |
| LinkedIn URL | A linkedin.com/in/ link is present | Most recruiters check your profile |
| Standard headings | 3+ of Experience, Education, Skills, Summary, Certifications, Projects start a line | ATS map content into fields using headings |
| Length | 350–900 words | Roughly 1–2 pages of substance |
| Bullet points | 6 or more bullets | Achievements are easier to scan |
| Quantified results | 5 or more numbers, %, $ or K/M figures | Numbers prove impact |
| Action verbs | 6+ verbs such as led, built, grew, reduced | Bullets read as achievements, not duties |
| No first-person pronouns | “I”, “me” or “my” appear 3 times or fewer | Standard resume style |
| Simple formatting | No tab-separated columns detected | Tables and columns can scramble parsing |
