What is the Resume Keyword Matcher?

A resume keyword matcher compares your resume with a specific job description and lists the terms that recruiters and applicant tracking systems are likely to search for. AnyShift pulls up to 35 keywords and two-word phrases from the job ad, ignoring filler such as “team”, “experience” and “responsibilities”, and checks which of them appear in your resume. The score is keywords found ÷ keywords extracted.

You get a colour-coded score plus Missing and Matched keyword lists. You can drop a PDF, DOCX or TXT resume, and everything runs privately in your browser.

How to use the Resume Keyword Matcher

  1. Replace the sample text in Job description with the full ad you’re applying to.
  2. Paste your resume into Resume text, or drop a PDF, DOCX or TXT file, which is matched automatically.
  3. Click Match keywords to see your score and the keyword lists.
  4. Work the missing terms you genuinely have into your summary, skills and bullets, then match again.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good resume keyword match score?
With this tool, 75% or more shows green. The extracted list includes some general words from the ad, so 100% is rarely needed. Focus on covering every hard skill, tool and certification you genuinely have.
Should I copy the job description into my resume?
No. Add only keywords that truthfully describe your experience, in context, e.g. “Managed a $500K Google Ads budget”. Recruiters read the resume too, and pasted or hidden text looks like keyword stuffing.
Does the matcher understand synonyms?
No. It looks for the same wording, not the same meaning, as many ATS keyword searches do. If the ad says “search engine optimization”, include that phrase as well as “SEO”.
Where should I put keywords on my resume?
Put the most important ones in your summary and skills section, then back them up in your experience bullets. Use the job’s exact title near the top as well.
How is this different from the ATS resume checker?
The keyword matcher scores only the keyword overlap with one job ad. The ATS Resume Checker combines keyword match with nine format checks such as headings, length and quantified results.
