What is the Dropshipping Profit Calculator?

A dropshipping profit calculator tells you whether a product can survive paid advertising. Contribution before ads = price − supplier cost − supplier shipping − payment/platform fees − refund losses. Your break-even CPA is that contribution minus fixed costs per order; if ads cost more per purchase, every sale loses money. Break-even ROAS = price ÷ break-even CPA.

Example: a $39.99 product costing $11 plus $4 shipping, with 4.5% fees and 5% refunds, contributes $21.19 before ads. With $120 of monthly apps over 300 orders, break-even CPA is $20.79 (ROAS 1.92×); at a $14 CPA you make $6.79 per order, about $2,037 a month.

How to use the Dropshipping Profit Calculator

  1. Enter Selling price, Supplier product cost and Supplier shipping.
  2. Set Payment + platform fees (as a % of price) and your Refund / chargeback rate.
  3. Enter Orders per month and Monthly apps & store costs.
  4. Enter your current Ad cost per purchase (CPA) and compare it with break-even CPA and ROAS — a warning appears if profit is negative.

  • Projecting monthly profit at different order volumes

How price changes your break-even CPA

Same product ($11 cost, $4 shipping, 4.5% fees, 5% refunds, $0.40 fixed cost per order) at three prices:

PriceContribution before adsBreak-even CPABreak-even ROAS
$29.99$12.14$11.742.55×
$39.99$21.19$20.791.92×
$49.99$30.24$29.841.68×

A $10 price rise almost doubles the CPA you can afford, which is why higher-ticket products are easier to scale with paid ads.

Frequently asked questions

What margin do I need for dropshipping?
A common rule is a selling price of at least 3× landed cost (product + shipping), so there is room for ad costs of 25–35% of revenue plus refunds.
What is break-even ROAS in dropshipping?
Price ÷ (contribution before ads − fixed cost per order). It is the ROAS at which ads use up all your profit; with the defaults it is 1.92×, so any ad set returning less loses money.
How are refunds counted?
Each refund or chargeback is treated as lost revenue: refund rate × selling price is deducted from every order, because dropshipped items are rarely sent back to the supplier for credit.
How can I lower my break-even ROAS?
Raise contribution per order: increase the price or bundle items to lift order value, negotiate supplier cost or shipping, and cut refunds. Every extra dollar of contribution raises the CPA you can afford by a dollar.
Does the fee field include fixed fees like 30¢?
No. Payment + platform fees is a single percentage of the selling price (default 4.5%). If your processor also charges a fixed fee per order, add it to the Supplier shipping field.
